Talk: Edith Appleton, a nurse at the front in WW1, St Andrew's Church Hall, West Street, Deal, 6.30pm for 7pm start. To commemorate the signing of the armistice, Deal Maritime and Local History Museum is hosting a talk about “Edie,” who nursed in Belgium and France throughout WW1. She was born in Deal in 1877 and her father was a Trinity Pilot. Her diaries record her daily life at the Front and provide a fascinating insight into the war. The museum curators David Francis and Joss Marsh demonstrate 'Victorian 3D' on original stereoscopes - from the Crystal Palace to creepy spectres, from 'artworks' (i.e. nudes) to street scenes that bring the Victorian era to life.
